Over the last two and a half years, Hutton Builders undertook an extensive upgrade combined with a new-build of our home in Bombay Auckland. The contract involved considerable remedial work to the original villa which was built in the early 1900s, plus a new-build addition.
The scope of the work included all aspects of preserving the character of an old villa, while ensuring that the overall home was completed to meet current building standards. This included new roofing, full replacement of weather boards and sash windows in the old part of the home and complete new joinery in the addition. All joinery was sympathetic to the era of the home including ceiling batons, scotias, skirting boards, doors and fireplaces. Further work included the installation of underfloor heating and an air conditioning system. Elsewhere a full-upgrade was done of the pool and the pool surround, new decking was added, an existing veranda was rebuilt and a garage and loft area were totally upgraded.
The quality of the work undertaken by Lance and the Hutton Builders team was excellent. The focus on detail and on ensuring that high standards were met was exemplary. In particular, the Hutton team had a careful and caring approach to the job and really took a pride in the quality of their work.
The coordination of the overall project in terms of working with the architect and all sub-trades was demanding and Lance and Jana handled the process very well. At all times materials were onsite as required and subtrades delivered quality work within the timelines.
The overall property was completed to a high standard as per our instructions so as to be of sound construction for the very long-term. We have no doubt that this objective was achieved and that the home is a great place to live given the efforts of Hutton Builders. Moreover, the property achieved all necessary Code sign-offs.
We have no hesitation in recommendation Hutton Builders to prospective clients for any building work they may undertake.
